Universal silencer "Split" style - 63.5mm
All stainless steel, quiet
SIMONS silencers enjoy the reputation of having a high noise reduction. We have had them in use on several vehicles with a surprisingly pleasant sound.
Made in Sweden
No TÜV mark or similar. Only racing use or special approval according to §21 For TÜV special registrations.
What does quiet mean?
We have compared the SIMONS silencers with silencers of other manufacturers and measured the volume. In all tests SIMONS silencers were the ones with the best noise reduction. The test compares only absorption mufflers, i.e. continuous mufflers without chambers. Silencers with chambers are definitely even quieter, only counterproductive in terms of engine performance.
We measured various mufflers in operation and determined the following "sound attenuations". The test is based on measurements at standstill. Idling and holding 2000 rpm. Based on the sound level without silencer! These values serve only as orientation and selection aid. The actual noise level depends on the vehicle and the system. Based on the body size, the values can also be projected to the models in 63.5 and 89mm.
76mm Split -5db*
76mm Turbex -7db*
76mm Turbo -8db*
76mm Turbolight -7db*
76mm Turbonett -2db*
76mm Turbotight -3db*
*Data without guarantee, 10db less are perceived in the human ear as half the volume.
Which muffler is the most suitable?
The larger the volume of the damper, the more it dampens. Use the space you have under the vehicle as much as possible and choose the largest mufflers. We have found that oval mufflers are quieter than round ones.
Rear silencer or middle silencer?
Since the silencers are completely continuous, they can be used as front, middle or rear silencers.
