Measurements for a performance boost to well over 1000 PS (735 kW)

Would you like to precisely troubleshoot your vehicle and also find out its potential for a performance boost? Then you should arrange a dyno tuning session on our 1000 PS dynamometer.

On it, we perform measurements with an extremely small error tolerance of +/- 1% up to over 1000 PS – with no slip. This enables personalised tuning exactly in line with your wishes, giving your tuning project a boost as well. On this page, you’ll find out all you need to know to prepare for dyno tuning.

Our MEGA dynamometer!

This is our next-generation 4WD dyno by the renowned manufacturer MAHA:

  • The latest generation with single-roller technology. This makes for extremely exact measurements without any slippage.
  • Customized and perfect tuning in every load range.
  • Performance measurement at a constant engine speed, traction and speed.
  • Performances of way over 1000 hp can be measured exactly with a tolerance of +/- 1%.
  • Both axles can be additionally powered by high-performance electric motors.
  • Electronically controlled coupling of both axles. → With this, we can also measure the latest vehicle types such as Golf MK7 or Audi RS3 in the all-wheel mode. (In the case of current vehicles, the measurement is only possible if both axles are driven.)
  • Analysis of OBD and analog data, such as
    • hp/kW
    • torque
    • air/fuel
    • boost
    • intake air temperature
    • ignition time
    • and lots more

The more data is recorded, the easier sources of error and performance potential can be detected.

Prices for our measurements:

Single measurement, 2WD: 149 Euros
Single measurement, 4WD: 199 Euros

Each additional run costs 50 Euros extra.

All prices include taxes and performance chart.

Special notes:

In order to ensure a safe run, some points must be observed:

  • no winter tires and slicks.
  • Furthermore, the tires cannot be new (they should have been driven at least 1000 km).
  • The vehicle should not be too low since we have to secure it.
  • If there is a removable trailer coupling, please install it. It helps to fix the vehicle securely.
  • The tank should be at least half full since the fuel might heat up too much during the test run.

Before every tuning, you must keep the following points in mind:

For your tuning to go smoothly, your engine should be properly assembled and broken in.

Mechanical testing:

Checking the lines

Faulty gaskets and lines can cause

  • the engine to overheat in the water cycle.
  • a loss of oil pressure and damage to bearings in the oil cycle.
  • a burn-out of the entire vehicle in the fuel system.

Checking the boost system for leaks

With regard to the boost system, you should examine all clamps, terminals and lines. It’s best to perform a pressure test on the system and check it for leaks. A frequent cause of error is a defective blow-off valve.

Measuring the compression ratio

Without compression, your engine blows off your combustion mixture into thin air, so, at the time of ignition, you won’t have anything left in the combustion chamber that could generate power and torque.

The main causes of this are:

  • leaking piston rings (e.g. worn, broken or poorly installed)
  • leaking valves/valve seats (e.g. faultily countersunk, broken or contaminated with deposits)
  • damaged cylinder head gaskets or overstretched cylinder head bolts.

The following compression values are approximative values:

  • 8-series compressions: 10.3 to 11.7 bar per cylinder
  • 9-series compressions: 11.7 to 14.4 bar per cylinder
  • 10-series compressions: 14.4 to 17bar per cylinder
  • 10+-series compression: 16+ bar per cylinder

In the event that one cylinder differs in comparison with the others (maximum 2 bar), a tuning is not recommended.

Electrical testing:

Live lines

All live lines must be solid, adequately secured and insulated. As soon as a cable shows external damage, it must be replaced or repaired. No error codes are allowed to be stored in the engine control unit.

Sensors

Sensors should be examined for function and for external damage. Old sensors might transmit faulty information.
