Designed by the motorsport pros: the BAR-TEK® oil cooler flange
If a component doesn’t meet our high standards, we don’t hang about – we simply design a new one. And this is how the BAR-TEK® oil cooler flange was born. Here you can find out how come our flange is many times better than anything you’ve known before.
The History of the Next-Generation BAR TEK Oil Cooler Adapter
1) Introduction
An additional oil cooler is required especially in the case of more powerful vehicles in order to maintain the oil temperature at an optimum level of approx. 80°C under their high pressures and demands. This has a positive effect on the service life of the engine and includes a constant oil pressure and not hardening of all engine seals. In order to establish the connection between engine and oil cooler, an oil cooler adapter between engine block and oil filter is required in addition to the lines. Such adapters have been around for a long time, but our team has researched and developed this system further.
2) Fastening
Originally, the adapter bolt was fastened using a 25.4" (1 inch) hex wrench. However, it is very difficult to align and secure the oil cooler adapter due to the small size. In addition, not everyone has the right tool at hand.
We made up our minds about a better solution and decided on a bolt with a 12 mm inner hexagon socket. Thus we have achieved a smaller size and the fastening becomes easy. The bolt is made of high-quality steel and then yellow zinc plated.
3) Oil cooler adapter/strong>
Here we have realized a complete new development using a CAD program. The oil cooler adapter is made of aluminum and is milled from the full billet. For a cool look and better corrosion protection, it is then anodized black and provided with our BAR-TEK logo.
An 80°C thermostat is responsible for regulating the oil temperature. It is installed internally and does its work completely maintenance-free.
In order to have perfect monitoring of oil temperature or oil pressure, a grub screw can optionally be removed from the side and a sensor can be screwed in via a 1/8 NPT connection.
