100-cell cat

100-cell cat

It is particularly in motorsport that you will find sport catalytic converters with 100 cells. They provide a significant performance boost, a humming sound, and a heck of a lot of fun on the racetrack. In our shop, you will get 100-cell cats in different sizes and with different diameters. Besides the perfectly fitting plug & play catalytic converters for G40 and G60, we also have universal 100-cell kits in our range. Since cats with so few cells often do not meet the exhaust standards, they are subject to registration and particularly well-suited for use in motorsport.

Sport cats with 100 cells

The number of cells in a catalytic converter always refers to the number per square inch. A 100-cell cat has a total of more than a hundred cells. While 400 or more cells are more common for use in everyday street traffic, when it comes tuning and motorsport, you will mostly find 100- and 200-cell cats. The reason for this is clear: the less cells a cat has, the more incredible the power, since the exhaust flow is optimised. In addition, racing catalytic converters are made of metal and their production process is extremely complex. The walls of the cells are very thin, which facilitates flow and tangibly increases your performance.

100-cell metal cats

Normal serial cats are generally made of ceramic, which suffices for everyday use on the street and the appropriate performance. A ceramic catalytic converter would not last long in tuning and motorsport conditions. That’s why for this purpose, the catalytic converters are made out of metal. They are flow-optimised and so sturdy that they can withstand top performance without any problems. A coating made of precious metals ensures that the exhaust gases are cleaned. Contrary to series-production cats, 100-cell cats are also manufactured with a larger diameter to reduce the exhaust back pressure. This also has a positive impact on your engine, which is exposed to lower thermal loads. If you drive a vehicle with cat monitoring, for example with 2.0L TFSI (VAG), our lambda sensor eliminator is an important tool in conjunction with a racing cat. This will help avoid the annoying flashing of the check engine light if you are driving with a racing cat or even a downpipe completely without any cat.
