Lighter flywheel – more agile engine
The installation of a lighter flywheel is an effective and inexpensive tuning measure. Due to the lower flywheel mass, the engine needs less energy to accelerate and thus reaches a higher rpm faster. As a result, gear changes are quicker because the engine speed can increase more rapidly. Since the mass of the engine is reduced by a lighter flywheel, fuel consumption can decrease - because the engine has to provide less drag power. Be sure to fine balance the flywheel. However, you should not lighten the flywheel too much so that idling remains stable.
Flywheels for different engine models
In our product range, we have flywheels for various VW and Audi models - for example, for G40, G60 or 1.8T engines. Our lightest flywheel Polo G40 Race made of highly robust chrome molly weighs just under 3 kilograms, is CNC-milled, finely balanced and heat-resistant up to 580 degrees. No matter which flywheel you choose: We recommend ARP flywheel bolts for optimum stability. You can also find other accessories such as clutch bolts, gear levers and friction discs here.
You can rely on the quality of the products in the BAR-TEK® tuning shop. With our experience from 17 years of motorsport, we put every part through its paces on our performance test bench - in some cases directly on the race track. This ensures that only the top tuning parts make it into the online shop.
