Intake Manifolds for Professional Tuning
Intake manifolds, also known as intake plenum, are a popular way of increasing performance in engine tuning. As the connection between the engine block and the injection system, the intake manifold provides fresh gas in the combustion chamber by directing it into the individual cylinders. Tuning increases the flow in order to boost performance. We developed and tested our BAR-TEK® intake manifolds on our dynamometer until we were able to achieve the best results. Intake manifolds for tuning and motorsport
If you increase the performance of your engine without upgrading the intake manifold, this quickly leads to problems. In most cases, the rearmost cylinder runs too lean because it is not supplied with enough air. Upgrade intake manifolds are designed so that this cannot happen. They are CFD-optimized to increase flow efficiency and achieve an even and efficient filling level.
Intake manifolds in series production are often made of plastic, but only high-quality materials are suitable for tuning and motorsport due to the high thermal load. Here, intake manifolds are milled from solid aluminum or cast from steel, for example.
There are two different designs: Single-chamber intake manifolds and dual-chamber intake manifolds. Single-chamber intake manifolds are used in series production, but they are not flow-optimized. Dual-chamber intake manifolds are much more complex to manufacture.
However, dual-chamber intake manifolds in particular provide plenty of boost. These are designed in such a way that the smaller chamber fills up even faster and even increases in speed via a conical feed into the larger chamber.
