What is a VW Golf GTE or an Audi A3 E-tron? How does it work?

Since the end of 2014 there have been so-called plug-in hybrid vehicles from the VAG Group. These include the VW Golf 7 GTE and the Audi A3 E-tron. They have a 1.4L combustion engine with 150 hp and an additional electric motor with 102 hp. This results in a system performance of 204 hp with a total of 350 nm. Both engines are located next to each other and are coupled to each other. In detail, the e-motor is located on the input shaft between the clutch and the 6-speed DSG transmission. The high-performance batteries have a capacity of 8.7KWh and require approx. 4 hours charging time. The vehicle is charged via a commercially available Schuko plug at the household connection, which is hidden behind the front VW emblem. It is also possible to charge the vehicle at a charging station via the type 2 cable. The charging takes place with 3,7kW and is thus shortened by half the time. During the journey the battery is charged by recuperation of the electric motor. This means that when rolling towards a traffic light the vehicle brakes and energy is recovered. Power is transmitted via a double-clutch transmission, which makes every electric drive a pleasure. During quiet city journeys, the combustion engine is hardly switched on and the vehicle runs completely electrically. When all the power is required, the intelligent system appears and couples both types of drive. In this case, in combination with both engines, the vehicle only needs 7.6 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h.

What are the disadvantages of the VW Golf GTE or Audi A3 E-tron?

The biggest disadvantage is that the purely electric 50 km ride cannot be achieved. The real value is unfortunately only approx. 25 km. Double drives mean ballast, so that the tare weight increases by approx. 300 kg and the trunk volume decreases by approx. 100 litres.

How can we improve the engine performance?

We can offer chip tuning for all GTE and E-tron models. The software will be optimized. We attach great importance to the fact that all driving comfort is not affected and the E-Mode remains completely available. Through this optimization we achieve a power plus of approx. 25 hp and 50 nm more torque. This means we now have approx. 230 hp at 400 nm.

In addition, we can offer any kind of mechanical tuning for you. Here everything is open, from forged pistons up to the sport camshaft.
