With the APR gearbox software you are well prepared for performance and durability. The upgrade enables the transmission to drive higher torques with faster acceleration and to perform even faster gear changes. Each driving mode is perfectly matched to the APR engine software and harmonizes perfectly. The upgrade enables the driver to use many gadgets and functions, such as setting the launch control speed, in order to be able to accelerate individually.
Our engineers have completely recalibrated the gearbox to further increase the clutch contact pressure as soon as clutch slip is detected. From now on clutch slip is continuously monitored and always adjusted in such a way that the lowest pressure is used but the clutch does not start to slip anyway. This ensures that the clutch insert remains comfortable in most driving scenarios. Unfortunately, this method is limited in its function. If the torque is too high, 550+ Nm, clutch slipping occurs despite the DSG software and leads to overheating warnings which may also be aggravated by an insufficient DSG oil level.
APR's DSG software upgrade reconfigures the clamping pressure routine to further increase the contact pressure and to support the various performance levels perfectly. The pressure increases steadily, prevents slippage, but remains below the maximum protection levels defined by the manufacturer.
DRIVING MODE:
"Normal" and "Sport"
Our calibration experts found the "Normal" and "Sport" driving modes to be less ideal when the performance goes beyond the standard set-up. In "Normal" the transmission aggressively searches for sixth gear earlier than necessary and makes the driving experience very unemotional. Likewise, the "Sport" mode leaves a lot to be desired considering its seemingly exciting name.
"Manually"
In manual mode, the transmission does exactly what you tell it to do. The kick-down switch, which is responsible for an immediate downshift, is activated by default, but can be deactivated at the time of installation if desired. Likewise, the automatic upshift process, which occurs at the maximum engine speed of the vehicle, can be deactivated, so that the engine goes into the speed limiter like a manual gearbox and remains there until you tell the gearbox something else. The transmission does not block manual down shifts as long as the next gear does not lead to an engine speed above the maximum shift point. In all situations the paddle delay is reduced, so that a very fast shift takes place and manual switching times have also been optimized.
FACTS:
Faster acceleration
Increased clutch pressure, optimized shift points and improved implementation of launch control.
Faster gear changes
Increased clutch pressure and optimized shift times result in a significantly faster shift in every driving situation.
Optimized switching points
Driving modes such as "Eco" and "Normal" have been adjusted again for more efficient driving through the DSG software, while the "Sport" mode is perfectly matched to the use of the APR hardware and software.
Increased clutch pressure
An increased clutch clamping pressure beyond the factory torque levels ensures long-term support of up to 550 Newton-meters of torque on a series clutch.
Daily driving
A lot has also been improved in the partial load range in order to ensure a smoother and more pleasant driving experience.
3-stage launch control
The launch control can be activated with ESP "on" or ESP "off". Three custom start speeds are selected by the customer at the time of installation. Finally, the edited Launch Control ensures even faster acceleration.
Custom manual mode
The automatic upshift in the limiter or the deactivation of the kick-down can be freely selected at the time of installation.
Increased torque limitation
Non-physical torque limits are increased to enable higher performance while maintaining critical protection limits.
Downshift lockout optimized
Manual downshifting is possible in every gear as long as the next gear is below the redline.
Temperature management optimized
Allows limited torque in overtemperature conditions without bypassing the safety systems relevant to the factory.
DirectPort programming
The APR DSG software is installed within a few minutes via the OBD-II port without having to open the gearbox control unit and can also be uninstalled at any time.
