Bearings and Bearing Shells
In our shop, we stock a wide selection of high-quality bearings and bearing shells for engine tuning. Generally, a bearing is an element that has two components moving against each other. Cutting-edge bearings are usually slide bearings that are supplied with oil from the oil pump and are thus lubricated. A pressure film forms due to the friction, whose job is to prevent any metallic contact between the respective component (e.g. the crankshaft) and the slide bearing. But wear cannot be completely avoided. For that reason, the parts should be regularly checked and replaced, if needed – especially in tuning. You can buy various bearings and bearing shells for engines from us. They include, for instance:
- main bearings for the crankshaft,
- con-rod bearings from the world of motor racing,
- bearings for the intermediate shaft or
- bearing shells for con-rods or the main bearing
You should replace the bearings and the shells at regular intervals
A performance-enhanced engine must be able to withstand extreme loads; this includes small components such as bearings and bearing shells. Because extreme performance results in a higher friction, parts are apt to wear more quickly. In order to prevent a power loss and damage to the car, you should only install high-quality components and check them frequently. Every once in a while, all wear parts should be replaced.
Special bearing shells from car racing
Alongside parts in OEM quality, you get special car racing bearing shells from us that are suitable for especially high performance. Our grooved main bearing shells for 8V engines derived from car racing have an additional circumferential groove. This makes for a better lubrication and reduced friction losses on the crankshaft. The oil pressure and oil flow are significantly improved.
