The PowerMax™ turbocharger for the 2.0L EA888 Evo4 engine platform of VAG models is designed to give you professional performance upgrades while maintaining compatibility with OEM parts. In other words, maximum driving pleasure and foolproof installation are possible with this turbocharger. Real 450 PS (333 kW) power is no problem with this.

Made for all EA888 GEN 4 engines and maximum driving pleasure: We were commissioned by Garrett to test the new PowerMax™ turbocharger and put it through its paces in the VW Golf 8 GTI. The result on our test bench was clear: The turbo not only makes 450 PS possible without any problems, its response is also enormous.
The turbo owes its mega power curve in part to the aerodynamics of the Gen II GTX compressor housing. The aero-optimized compressor wheel provides an incredible +32% compressor throughput compared to stock parts and even +50% turbine flow! You can't not feel these values!
The electric servomotor in the turbo precisely and reliably controls the movement of the guide vanes, regulating the exhaust flow. This allows the boost pressure to be changed and optimally adapted to all speed ranges. In this way, you can access power even in the low rev range. This is what we mean when we talk about legendary responsiveness.
Just like all PowerMax™ turbochargers from Garrett, this one was designed for extreme performance, while it can be easily plugged and played into the existing OEM system. Therefore, only the best and most resistant materials are used here. Part of that is the reverse rotating Garrett GT2260S core assembly, the new generation compressor housing with preparation to accept an optional speed sensor and the milled compressor wheels with improved aerodynamics and increased pressure ratio.
The Mar-M alloy turbine wheel withstands exhaust temperatures of 1050 °C. The Gen II GTX compressor wheel is forged and milled from special high-strength aluminum alloys. This gives the turbocharger particularly high efficiency, while the optimized wheel geometry reduces pulsation noise. The twin-scroll turbine housing made of stainless steel is also robust and can withstand 1050 °C heat.
The Garrett PowerMax™ is a direct-fit bolt-on turbocharger kit with all connections for the 2.0L EA888 Evo4 engine. It simply plugs and plays in place of the stock supercharger. On the exhaust side there is a connection to the original downpipe, so all downpipes fit on the output. The connection for the water cooling is made by two connections on the side.

The maximum allowed operating speed for the stage 1 turbocharger is 186,000 rpm. Operating the turbocharger above this speed is at your own risk and may cause the turbocharger to fail and void the warranty. To prevent overspeeding, we recommend the use of 781328-0003 tachometer (kit with tachometer sensor and display instrument) or 781328-0004 (tachometer sensor).
