Description

The BMW S55B30 3.0L turbocharged engine is equipped with a water/air charge air cooling system. The charge air is cooled by a water-cooled intercooler. The water is cooled by this heat exchanger in the front and two additional radiators on the right and left.

A reduction of the cooling water temperature is accordingly also directly equivalent to an improved cooling performance of the charge air. This is exactly where our upgrade water cooler comes into play. The high-performance mesh increases the radiator volume by approx. 85%. The ratio between inner and outer cooling surface ensures maximum heat transfer while still allowing enough air for the engine water cooler behind it to exchange heat. With the increased amount of cooling water in the circuit, the overall engine thermals are lowered to a lower level, especially with performance-enhanced engines.  Our upgrade intercooler fits plug & play. With CNC machined quick connectors, and CNC-milled brackets and fittings, the heat exchanger is a direct replacement for the original radiator. It connects directly to all original hoses and no grilles or covers need to be modified. In addition, our water cooler has an anti-corrosion coating with heat conduction properties, instead of a simple powder coating.

In testing, we were able to achieve a 10°C reduction in IAT when combined with our side mounted coolers.
